Moving Ahead Program

The Moving Ahead Program is designed to assist immigrant individuals and families with multiple needs and significant integration barriers. We provide services in a one-to-one setting and in-home visits.

We will help you gain the capacity to cope with issues and barriers and to acquire sufficient skills to participate in regular settlement or community services and programs.

Services are offered in : Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, Somali, Nuba, Russian and English

 

Intake and In-Home Assessment

To determine how we can best support you, we will complete a detailed assessment of over seven life domains including, but not limited to, emotional, mental and physical well-being, along with background and capacity in literacy, language and employment.

Wrap-around Support Plan

Based on the assessment, we will help create an Individualized plan for you and your family that will identify goals, as we as a detailed plan for how we can work together to achieve them.

 

One-on-One/Family Services

  • Settlement Information and Personalized Counselling
  • Practical Assistance and Supported Access to Services
  • Visitation and Home Outreach

Referrals to

  • Literacy Classes
  • Newcomer Employment Support Program
  • Settlement information workshops
  • Support Groups and more...

Eligibility criteria

For refugees and immigrants, who are living in Surrey or Delta, have multiple needs (i.e., health, housing, financial, etc.) and significant integration barriers (i.e., language, education, life skills, etc.). Contact 604.501.6850 ext. 61130.

Can you access the program directly?

Yes. Anyone can refer, but screening is required prior to admission.
