Newcomers have access to services which help them adapt their skills and/or knowledge for the Canadian work environment to increase their employability.
One-on-One Employment Counselling
We provide you with one-on-one support tailored for newcomer job-seekers. You will be provided pre-employment skills and resources as well as skills-building and volunteer opportunities in order to build confidence and knowledge.
Jobs Search Skills Building
This program will help newcomers gain the ability to review their career options and identify suitable career choices. We will help you tap into hidden job markets and develop a Job Search Plan. You will learn to write a compelling resumé and cover letter. You will have access to resources which will help you expand your professional network, volunteer and/or training opportunities.

Career Mentorship
You will be matched with mentors based on your interests, needs, and professional background. Career Mentorship support is useful if you would benefit from access to professional networks/the Canadian labour market, and desire and understanding of Canadian career-path options and workplace cultures.
Matched mentees and mentors may set their own meeting schedules. Each must commit to a minimum of 10 hours of interaction over a 3-month period. Interactions may take the form of face-to-face meetings, email communications, telephone conversations and job shadowing opportunities.
Meet the Employer
These sessions will link you with employers who are ready to hire. Each session will consists of a small group of newcomer job-seekers who will benefit from an in-person interactive session with an employer who will offer information on hiring process, job opportunities and job requirements. A great networking opportunity!
Newcomer Job Fairs
Job fairs will provide you with opportunities to meet with employers who can offer information about their businesses, their hiring processes, job requirements and job opportunities, as well as, conduct initial interviews.
You will receive support to prepare your resumes and gain interview skills prior to registering for job fairs.
Refugee Employment Support
One-on-one support tailored for refugee job-seekers. You will be provided pre-employment skills and resources as well as skill-building and volunteer opportunities in order to build confidence and knowledge.
Services offered in Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Tagalog,
Dari, Pashto, Farsi, Urdu, Ukrainian and English
Eligibility criteria
- Permanent Residents of Canada.
- Protected Persons as defined in Section 95 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Individuals who have been selected, inside or outside of Canada, to become permanent residents and who hae been informed by a letter from IRCC.
- Convention refugees and protected persons outside Canada who have been selected for resettlement in Canada by IRCC.
- Temporary foreign workers who hold or received approval of a work permit unde kSection 112 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR: Formerly known as Live-in Caregivers) or received initial approval for permanent residence under Section 113 of the IRPR.
