Surrey, BC - November 4, 2016
Options Community Services has been operating quietly, and largely below the public radar for the last 47 years. At last night’s 18th annual Surrey Business Excellence Awards, the incredible work and commitment Options has contributed to the community of Surrey was recognized by the Surrey Board of Trade.
We are humbled, honoured and encouraged with this award. "We are proud of what we have done to help strengthen the City of Surrey." says Tammy Dyer, Deputy Executive Director. "We are looking forward to the contribution we can make over the next 47. The future really does live here."
Last year alone, Options helped over 100,000 people through a variety of services that meet clients where they are at; their physical or emotional health, financial situation, culture, stage of life, level of ability, education, language, or geography. Overall, 97% of clients felt welcomed and respected, and 91% felt they were able to meet their goals.
"Very helpful, informative and flexible. Counsellor is awesome. She really cared and made a difference." - client of Children & Youth for Domestic Peace.
The name "Options" comes from the belief that for communities to be healthy, people need to have choices and opportunities to live their most fulfilling lives. Our commitment to empowering individuals, supporting families and promoting community health has resulted in many new programs and partnerships over the past 47 years. We provide services and support to children and families, youth, new Canadians, those who are, in crisis, at-risk of or already homeless, the under- or unemployed, and those needing mental health supports.
